UPDATE!!!

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT A MAKEUP PRIMER (REVIEW).

A primer is an essential product that every makeup kit should have. I often find that some people don't use primers because they are not well informed about it while others just see it as something with little or no importance. Whichever group you belong to, I hope this post enlightens you and also propels you to to include it in your makeup routine.  A flawless makeup look starts with a primer. This of course, doesn't take away your skincare routine as your skin plays an important role too (they all work together in achieving that flawless look we desire), I wrote about this here. There are different types of primer: foundation primer, eyelid primer, lip primer and a mascara primer. but for this post I'm going to be concentrating more on the foundation primer.
A foundation  primer is applied after a face moisturizer/cream before applying any form of makeup. There are different types of foundation primer like the oil free foundation primer or the silicone based primer for oily skin type, hydrating primer for dry skin, tinted primers for covering up imperfections. Before picking a primer, you should take into account your skin type and also what you hope to achieve from it and so on. As insignificant as it might seem, priming your skin is actually a step that shouldn't be omitted, here are some of the reasons:

  • It serves as a base for your make up to sit on ensuring that your foundation isn't applied directly to your skin or doesn't settle into fine lines.
  • It ensures the longevity of make up.
  • it reduces shine by absorbing oil.
  • It minimizes pores.
  • It evens out minor wrinkles and hides imperfections.
Some of these benefits are not only for foundation primers, they also apply to other types of primer like an eyelid primer regardless of where it's being applied to, the concept is still the same.

Review
This review is on the Inglot mattifying under makeup base. This primer is actually for people with oily skin .i got this primer from an Inglot store, the lady there recommended it to me. I have been using this product for a while now, and I decided to review it.

Product Info:
  • Provides a long-lasting mattifying effect.
  • Visually evens out minor wrinkles and hides imperfections.
  • Absorbs sebum without drying out the skin.
  • Extends the life of makeup.

My Thoughts
It comes in a small black tube that holds up 30ml of product. It doesn't have a pump which would have been better if it did, because it becomes difficult to get the content out when it's almost empty. It's a transparent silicone based primer with a thick consistency, the good thing is that it doesn't feel heavy on the skin. It requires patience while applying because of it's consistency, and it's also smoothening. As stated in the product info, this primer allows my makeup stay put all day, but it's not as mattifying as it claims. It lasts an average of 4 hours but may last a little longer when combined with an oil free foundation or when used during the cold seasons. In as much as it's a mattifying primer, it's not drying which is a plus

Overall
It's a pretty good primer. The only problem I have with this primer is; it doesn't control oil well considering the fact that it is designed for oily skin. which was my sole aim of buying it in the first place. If your concern isn't oil control then this primer will work for you. I highly recommend this primer for people with combination to normal skin type.

Have you tried this primer? Did it work for you? leave your comments below, I would love to hear from you.
